Life Is Fun
Life Is Fun is a science education initiative for science-related activities rather than using traditional teaching methods such as memorization. Schools such as Chatpara Ideal Academy and Pearabag Primary School have events which were focused on encouraging students to relate science learning to their everyday environment. Some of the training sessions as part of the Teachers’ Training program for teachers to gain skills in teaching science as a subject.
The pivotal goal of the LiF initiative is to nurture the interest in science lessons among students at the elementary level. The program, designed by a group of volunteers from the Education Research Institute of the Department of Education, Dhaka University, Bangladesh, is a compilation of eight science lessons that are aligned with the current national curriculum in Bangladesh.
The Program:
The lessons involve a practical fun and play tutorial involving simple science experiments for grades three, four and five. The lessons evolve the use of the five human senses to strengthen their problem-solving skills and resuscitate their interest in science. Every year, Agami plans to organize science fairs as part of the LiF initiative in an effort to inspire students to enjoy science and explore its versatility.
Agami has implemented the program in conjunction with the Teachers’ Training Program to ensure that the science lessons were delivered effectively. The Teachers’ training program is an equally important initiative because a positive change in mentorship is a definite fix toward education empowerment and the future of underprivileged children. In the future, LiF aims to leverage the employment of science teachers and paid internships, staff training, content improvement, and project monitoring.
